From professional guitar setups and repairs to hands-on assessments, consultations, and guitar-buying guidance, you get experienced, musician-first advice and service brought directly to you across Toronto and the GTA.
On-Site Service Call: $200 The $200 service call covers arrival and the first hour on-site in Toronto, North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke, and Richmond Hill. Additional time is $125/hr, billed in 15-minute increments ($31.25 per 15 minutes). Locations farther out are quoted individually. See Pricing for details.

MrGuitar Professional Assessment (MPA)
Musical Discovery
Sometimes you need more than a conversation—you need someone to actually examine the guitar. An Assessment is a hands-on physical examination of your instrument to determine its condition, identify problems, and establish what should happen next. This can be especially useful when you’re unsure whether a guitar needs a setup, repair, fretwork, structural attention, or simply some maintenance. An Assessment may lead directly into hands-on service, or simply give you the information you need to make an informed decision.

MrGuitar Professional Service is hands-on professional guitar service performed with the instrument in front of me—not a one-size-fits-all list of work. The goal is to address what your guitar actually needs, whether that means a setup, adjustment, maintenance, repair, or a combination of services.
What MPS Can Include
Every guitar is different. MPS is not about performing work simply because it can be performed. It is about determining what the instrument needs and carrying out the appropriate work carefully and professionally.
- Restringing with fresh strings
- String stretching and precision tuning
- Truss rod and neck-relief adjustment
- Action adjustment
- Nut and saddle adjustment
- Intonation
- Pickup height and balance
- Fret inspection and light polishing
- Hardware adjustment
- Electronics cleaning
- Battery replacement, where applicable
- Final inspection and play test
Repair & Maintenance
MPS can include a range of repair and maintenance work, from minor adjustments to more involved repairs. Where a job requires shop equipment, specialized tools, or more time than makes sense on-site, the guitar can be brought to the MrGuitar Workshop for the appropriate work. Examples include:
- Fret leveling and re-crowning
- Nut replacement or adjustment
- Saddle replacement or adjustment
- Wiring repairs and solder work
- Potentiometer and switch replacement
- Tuning-machine replacement
- Bridge and tailpiece adjustment
- Humidifier installation
- Structural assessment and diagnosis
- General maintenance and troubleshooting
When Professional Service Is the Right Next Step
If you know your guitar needs hands-on attention, MPS may be the appropriate next step. If you’re not sure what’s going on, an Assessment can help determine the instrument’s condition and what should happen next. If your question is primarily about a decision, purchase, repair, or another guitar-related issue, a Consultation may be the better starting point.

How long does a setup take?
A standard setup typically takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on the guitar’s condition and the work required.
Do you work on all types of guitars?
Yes. MrGuitar works with acoustic, electric, classical, bass, 12-string, and other guitars.
What if my guitar needs more than a setup?
I’ll assess the situation and explain what I find. If additional work is required, I’ll recommend the appropriate next step. Some repairs can be completed on-site; more involved work may be performed at the MrGuitar Workshop.
Do I need to know what service I need?
No. That’s part of what MrGuitar is here for. Tell me what’s happening with your guitar and we’ll figure out the appropriate next step.
Do I need to provide anything for an on-site service call?
Just a suitable table or work surface. I bring the tools and supplies required for the work.
